Motorhomes/Campervans
I'm looking at buying one in the next few weeks. It's going to be for me to actually live in whilst I look for a property in Portugal. Thus a 4 berth is what I require
Does anyone have one and more especially bought one in the last 2 years.

Prices seem to have stabilised and I'm thinking (like dogs ) folks will want rid now the novelty has worn off and they don't use them as much as thought they would.

I've been to a couple of dealers and their prices seem crazy, how much mark up do they have ?
Looking on loads of websites but haven't found "the one" yet.

I like Hymer's because their tech is good and everything well made.

thanks for any guidance in advance.

Thought you said Hyman? Anyway I'm sure you know there's a vibrant swinging motorhome community, allegedly. Don't bother asking Vexed he's too busy cleaning the seagulls shite off the roof of his Caravan. Enjoy!

Still trying to find that out, not even sure I do need one anymore, the rules have changed several times in recent years. I need to talk to the embassy really, it is on my list..... Seen prices from $10 to $60 per day, not planning on hanging around much in Iran or Pakistan though, just want to get through them and out the other side.

You need a guide, you can take your own vehicle now though.

Can you drive into Iran? Don't you officially need a guide?

When do you need it?
Rock up the week before Christmas with a pocket full of cash and grab a bargain.

The luxury of some of the high-end ones is hilarious. No doubt there will be one with a spa in it somewhere.

Join a few pages on Facebook, but be warned you can’t register a RHD vehicle in Portugal.

I would be tempted to buy a £1000 car. AA membership and a tent.

Spend the change on hotels.

If you do purchase one don't park it near trees in windy weather.

Really interesting info thanks, I am currently planning a trip to drive to East Asia via Iran and was thinking about getting / converting a van for the job. I am not actually planning on living in it, as I will be stopping in a lot of places on route, more for nights where I am still on the road.

I am currently reading a book about the disappearance of Peter Falconio. If you get a camper van, don't take it on a tour of the Aussie outback is my advice.

A mate of mine bought a huge fuck off camper by Burstner, cost him £120k !!

Was fantastic, went all over Europe in it

Is posting in this thread essentially the opposite of Zoltaneering?

I think they look lovely, all lined up in their fields. Driving carefully down the lanes. ;)

overbuyer... yup I'll give you that... the 3.5 years I had my SX150 I can confirm it was off the road more or in Kegra racing than I had it on the road.... however when it was ON THE ROAD... fuck all your twist and go's to kingdom come !!

Got to admit I'd have a VW over anything else... fuck actually getting from A to B... ha ha

In line with other advice, I would first focus upon the chassis cab. Whatever the interior hard wood, bed arrangement or electronic gizmo, they won't help you if the bloody thing won't start or breaks down
A mate of mine who ran a removals company had them and his first attention was always the body and fitments. He then proceeded to drop them on all manner of sheds
Never ceased to amaze me that when buying his trucks for his business he was quite the opposite and very discerning

SX200 best used as a coffee shop ornament

If you want a scooter that works, get a Yamaha.

Can of worms eh?!
